Simplicity, functional, with a modular appearance of slices
Sidney is a freestanding tower cabinet comprising three sections. Two deep shelves make up the top of the cabinet; The centre houses pullout supports which enable the dropdown door to become a convenient shelf. Below this, are four smaller drawers, perfect for hidden storage. The cabinet's versatility means that it is a perfect fit anywhere in the home.Sidney is crafted from three types of hardwood: cherry, walnut and london plane. The Cherry takes two tones, ebonized to create striking striped layered sections. These black sections begin with an angled plinth and continue up the sides and back of the cabinet. The ebonized wood also appears in hidden pullout supports for the dropdown door and through the open shelves. The ebonized cherry is offset by walnut drawer-fronts, which open to reveal london plane within.
The inspiration for Beuzeval Furniture’s Cabinet ‘Sidney’ grew from a fifties free-standing larder which balanced form and function in a simplistic block utility design. Each element of the larder had its use, or several, with a cupboard door turning seamlessly into a worktop. As with an old fashioned magic box, the cabinet is made up of panels that slot together to create layers of discovery and movement. ‘Sidney’ was conceived through a desire to create a tall cabinet with a small footprint able to fit comfortably into rooms and homes with limited space, whilst providing maximum storage and display opportunity.
‘Sidney’ is a tall yet compact cabinet that can house a multitude of objects from around the home, fitting well in the living room, bedroom or kitchen. Sidney’s versatility stems from a simplicity of design, expressive, timeless and beautiful.
Add ‘Sidney’ to your kitchen. The drawers are ideal for storing dried and fresh food. Spices, jars and other kitchen items will fit perfectly on the shelves.
Keep everything neat and tidy in your lounge, hall, bedroom or utility space. Items hidden from view in the drawers with collectables pictures and plants on the shelves.
Sidney’s sides and back need not be pushed to a wall and hidden from view, instead, these often hidden sections of furniture, create a beautiful structural and tonal addition to any space.
The cabinet is made from cherry, walnut and London plane. The walnut is from ‘Fallen & Felled’ a London-based timber company that repurposes felled urban trees. American cherry from Latham timber yard which is accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) schemes. The black wood is ebonized cherry which is a process of darkening the wood with an iron and Vinegar mixture. The London plane is from Beuzeval Furniture’s own stock of wood, a local tree from the East End of London that would have otherwise been chipped.
